Technology
Today’s energy needs are not isolated to any one product. We need affordable and clean solutions for the production of electricity, transportation fuels, and products for tomorrow’s vehicles such as hydrogen for fuel cells. We are also looking to reduce our dependency on decreasing supplies of foreign oil and petroleum products, replacing them with renewable sources of cleaner energy.
Our High Efficiency Hydrothermal Reformer (HEHTR™) technology and process here at ClearFuels for biomass to syngas conversion (BTG) allows for the production of several high-value energy products as seen in the diagram above and we can do this using a variety of cellulosic feedstocks. Wood waste from wood product facilities like sawdust or wood scrap and sugar mill waste including bagasse and cane trash are just two examples of over a dozen proven feedstock that are also inexpensive and readily available. In fact, ClearFuels intends on co-locating all of our commercial facilities with existing sugar mills and wood product facilities, providing plenty of biomass while reducing operating costs and increasing operating efficiencies.
Flexibility of feedstock and various high-value energy product outputs are only two of the many benefits to ClearFuels Technology. Other benefits include:
- Low tar BTG syngas with a flexible controllable hydrogen to carbon monoxide ratio for better integration with multiple GTL technologies
- Biomass is reformed at a tightly controlled fast rate allowing for higher facility utilization and productivity
- Technology integration with Rentech's FT Diesel process to produce jet fuel and diesel at prices lower than today’s competition
- Lower capital cost requirements as ClearFuel’s facilities are integrated with existing sugarmills and woodwaste facilities for more efficient use of steam, heat and power.
