Founded in 1998, ClearFuels Technology Inc. is the leader in thermochemical conversion of renewable cellulosic biomass feedstocks to clean, controllable syngas for the production of advanced biofuels. The Company’s leading position has been strengthened through a strategic partnership with Rentech Inc. , which was completed following a comparison of more than 240 companies by Rentech for integrated production of renewable jet fuel and diesel. Soon afterwards, ClearFuels was awarded a $22.6 million US Department of Energy (“DOE”) grant from among more than 200 applicants for Integrated Biorefineries. ClearFuels was voted onto the Biofuels Digest list of 30 top transformational technologies and 15 top DOE Integrated Biorefinery projects. ClearFuels is engaged in integrating its technology with two additional leading advanced biofuels companies for the production of cellulosic ethanol and renewable diesel from suqar based feedstocks.
What does all this mean? It means that ClearFuels Technology has developed a way to process sugar cane waste, wood waste products, and mixtures of both to produce several types of fuels and electrical power, at a lower overall cost. ClearFuels’ revolutionary integrated designs provide more flexibility in feedstock selection and facility location, all while using biomass that does not compete with our food supply like ethanol derived from corn or biodiesel from soybean oil. ClearFuels has even gone one step further by co-locating our facilities with sugar mills and wood product plants to insure an abundant supply of feedstock for commercial production of our fuel products at a lower cost.
Not only can ClearFuels Technology produce a better product at a lower cost, we are meeting tomorrow’s needs today by entering a market mandated by several U.S. Government Acts committing to the production of an expected 36 billion gallons of renewable fuel by 2022, of which 21 billion gallons must be obtained from cellulosic ethanol and other advanced biofuels. And ClearFuels Technology has many other benefits including:
- Common modular fabrication of all ClearFuels biomass to syngas facilities (BTG) in partnership with Hydro-Chem Linde for improved cost efficiencies for all biofuels production
- Renewable FT diesel from an integrated ClearFuels BTG-Rentech GTL biorefinery design which meets both ASTM petrodiesel and ASTM biodiesel specifications
- Renewable Hydrogen production design with EPC partner URS
- Production facilities which are "self-powering" and have a carbon footprint of net-zero or negative as no fossil fuels are used in production or processing
- The ability to utilize almost 100% of each ton of cellulosic feedstock
